The DeHavilland Beaver in
1/24 scale
So, I finally got a 3D printer…This is the result, a complete scale model made from parts engineered in AutoCad and printed. Amazing how the 3D drawing is transformed into 3D pieces, some large, some very tiny. I have built a lot of scratch models but never one using a computer and printer. Control surfaces all move, float rudders move and retract, doors open and the prop spins.

Completed
model. The most difficult part of this was learning how the printer would react
to different shapes when printing

Rudder,
elevators, ailerons and flaps are all functional

The
prop cone was a tough one to recreate, along with the prop. Interior is
identical to the real aircraft, all the doors ar hinged

Instrument
panel is replicated in detail. Float rudders pivot and retract.

Fuselage
construction with the cargo net in place, floats assembled, empennage attached
and other parts of the fuselage added. The floats were printed in five
sections, then glued together

Detailed
control surfaces on the empennage. Passenger seats constructed and painted.
